The GTA 6 footage leak has spawned a Solana memecoin called $CYBERLEEK created by the hacker to watermark the clips which have now reached a $25 million market cap on August 23rd. The token promises “higher market cap = more leeks” and therefore aims to maximize trading volume. The contract owner of $CYBERLEEK cashed out the entire supply of roughly 146k wrapped SOL and 15.4m tokens for approximately 125k SOL tokens just hours before the big Rockstar gameplay reveal on Thursday.
Down 46% in the last 24 hours, the token currently trades at $0.0097 with a market cap of $7-13m. It previously reached a high of $0.0344 around the time of the dump, and there are 730m tokens in circulation held by 68k-78k wallets, reported CoinDesk.
As the biggest entertainment industry launch in history approaches, Take-Two is expecting $8-8.2 billion in net bookings for the fiscal year 2027. With anticipation for GTA 6 at an all-time high after the leak, analysts estimate that within the launch window, 45 million copies of the game will be sold, compared to the 230 million that GTA V went on to sell in the game’s lifetime.
Take-Two is reportedly using subpoenas to force X, Microsoft, and Discord to reveal information about the GTA 6 hacker. Blockchain sleuths have been able to track back the funding for the Solana memecoin through a single, KYC-verified KuCoin account, now trying to launder the proceeds of the leaks through various exchanges and markets.
