Late last month, a father and 11-year-old daughter were shot in gunfire in the parking lot of a McDonald's in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Two other children, aged 2 and 5, were very close to the gunfire, but uninjured.
The 11-year-old was shot in the head.
The family was waiting for their mother to pick up their meal when the shooting occurred, on a Saturday afternoon.
According to the WPLG 10 news reporter, police were calling this a "targeted incident". The police said it originated outside of the city, and it ended up in the McDonald's parking lot, as the suspect was reporting to work.
The father was released from the hospital, but the 11-y.o. daughter was in stable condition at the time of the news report.
The police investigation was active and ongoing.
