US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) announced that Joint Task Force Western Hemisphere conducted a lethal strike against a go-fast boat operating as a narcotic trafficking artifact in the Caribbean, killing four individuals on board the target. The strike was conducted by JTFTW as part of Operation Southern Spear.
"Confirmed intelligence revealed that the vessel was actively involved in narcotics trafficking," said SOUTHCOM in a statement released on social media. The operation resulted in the killing of four "narco-terrorists".
The attack was carried out as part of Operation Southern Spear, launched by the Trump administration in early September 2026. The effort uses air strikes to destroy suspected drug-smuggling vessels in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean. It is the most aggressive counternarcotics campaign in the Western Hemisphere in decades.
Upon taking office, Trump declared the cartels a national security and foreign policy threat. He promised to "wage war" on the organizations responsible for bringing so much harm to American communities. Operation Southern Spear is the operational face of that commitment to wage war on the cartels.
In addition to the air campaign, Trump has built the Shield of the Americas, a new security coalition of governments in Central and South America that can share intelligence and conduct joint law enforcement actions to dismantle the cartels\u2019 logistics and finance structures.
There are now 230 confirmed kills by Operation Southern Spear strikes since the operation began in early September 2025, according to Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia that tracks this information. The targets of all of the strikes by US military have been confirmed to be narco-traffickers, operating on established corridors to smuggle drugs into the US.
The Trump Administration has so far declined to specify the nationality of those killed or the location within the Caribbean where the strike was launched.
