Doral, Florida - Kimberly Beltran grew up in Miami and graduated from Coral Gables High School. She went on to earn degrees of Bachelor of Sciences and Master of Business Administration, and today works as a claims processing supervisor in a litigation law firm. However, she has always made time for community service, such as the Education Advisory Committee of Cutler Bay, the University of Miami Women’s Cancer Association, and the Board of Trustees of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony.
Now she is campaigning for a seat on the School Board, District 9, which runs from Pinecrest to Florida City. Her election will occur on Tuesday, August 20, with two weeks of early voting.

This week she participated in a candidates’ forum hosted by the Women’s Republican Club of Miami, Federated, in Coral Gables. There she demonstrated that her professional experience provides her with the skills she will bring to the School Board in managing complex tasks, introducing efficient procedures, and producing positive results.

She also attends the monthly online meetings of the Miami Freedom Forum, a hub for libertarian and conservative views, including support for educational choice and school vouchers. See: Milton Friedman, Capitalism and Freedom, Chicago: The University of Chicago Press, 1962. She is listed by Moms for Liberty as a candidate who stands with parents.

Her guiding principles are: (1) Open school-choice, not open borders; (2) No boys in girls’ bathrooms; and (3) Equality (of treatment), not equity (of results). She observed that proposed federal changes to Title IX will destroy young women’s sports and due process for young men.

    Plan

Kimberly is about the only candidate for School Board that has a plan to implement effective reforms when she takes office. This plan includes:

    (1) Work with law enforcement to extend the presence of School Resource Officers on school campuses, extending to 30 minutes both before and after the bells ring, to ensure the safety of students, staff and parents.
    (2) Expand and enrich extracurricular sports and arts programs throughout the schools, to ensure every student has the opportunity for enrichment.
    (3) Provide better academic and social support for special-needs families by improving their access and availability to programs currently offered.

On the School Board, Kimberly will be an advocate for excellence and a world-class education for every student, regardless of means, to prepare them for success. She has a background of strong family values and Catholic faith, which have given her a firm character and a drive to make a difference.

    Priorities

Kimbery’s priorities on the School Board will include the following:

    (1) School safety, in partnership with the School Board’s police department, to foster a secure learning environment.
    (2) Educational life-skills that will combine academic, vocational and after-school programs.
    (3) Equal access to high-quality education regardless of background or circumstances.
    (4) Teacher development, so that they will receive the resources needed for professional opportunities and mentoring, plus fair compensation.
    (5) Community engagement involving parents and other stakeholders in the education process through town hall meetings and other collaborative initiatives.

Kimberly is focused on collective decision-making to reflect the diverse needs of the community. She will advocate for quality education, community empowerment, and positive change in the School Board. She pointed out that school dropouts from 30 years ago had better writing skills than valedictorians do today. She has no big donors or other special interests to serve ahead of serving parents and students. She is a parent and a citizen, not a politician or a bureaucrat.

Kimberly is running against an incumbent who was identified by Governor DeSantis and the Republican Party of Florida as a woke progressive and a prime target for replacement by a conservative candidate. Nevertheless, they have provided no support to Kimberly’s campaign to carry out what they called for. She is worth supporting with your time, talent and treasure.
