News4Jax reported earlier this month that bats invaded the St. Mary's Elementary School in Camden County, Georgia north of Jacksonville, FL. Classes were moved for the week to the College of Coastal Georgia in Kingland nearly an hour drive away, to finish the removal of the bats from the building.
Also, earlier this week, WJCL TV news in Savannah reported that bats invaded the historic Lucas Theatre up the coast in the city, forcing a temporary closure.
According to Katrina Morris, GA Dept. of Natural Resources, "Most likely they were going to an area where there is heat [given the recent cold."
Even small gaps can be enough for bats to get in.
