In late January, a 55-year-old man in Merritt Island, Florida on the Atlantic coast east of Orlando went on a violent rampage against neighbors and their property. This was reported by WESH TV news out of Orlando.
The man can be seen on video with a pitchfork and a hatchet attacking a video surveillance camera in a residential area. The incident occurred just before 6AM.
Another neighbor was chased and attacked, reported WESH. Senior citizens had their yards "destroyed".
One neighbor said, "We were terrorized by this man for a good 15 minutes on camera. He needs to go away for a long time."
Alcohol played a huge role in the behavior, according to WESH.
The following day, the man appeared before a Brevard County judge. His public defender said that the man has a serious alcohol problem, reported WESH, and his family is trying to get him into an in-patient or out-patient program.
Neighbors wanted more to be done.

In mid-February, Fox 35 TV news in Orlando reported that the man had been in jail and was released.
One neighbor was distraught that prosecutors were still making a decision on charges and may not be able to make a case. But the State Attorney's office said they are only consolidating all of the cases into one.
