ALACHUA, Fla. — The Alachua County Republican Executive Committee held its 24th Annual Ronald Reagan Black Tie and Blue Jeans BBQ on Thursday evening at the Legacy Multipurpose Center. Despite a marquee lineup headlined by State Senator Bryan Avila—running for Florida Lieutenant Governor—and featuring remarks from U.S. Representative Kat Cammack, the gathering failed to generate the grassroots fire typically seen in election-season GOP events.
Inside the spacious Legacy Park facility, which boasts a capacity of roughly 500, rows of round banquet tables draped in patriotic tinsel remained noticeably bare. Total attendance struggled to reach an estimated 200 people. The sea of empty seats cast a quiet, detached atmosphere over what is traditionally the local party's premier autumn fundraiser and get-out-the-vote push.
The crowd’s demeanor remained subdued throughout the evening, offering polite applause rather than the rousing ovations standard for regional conservative rallies. Even the barbecue dinner and county-fair backdrop did little to stir palpable momentum among the rank-and-file attendees.
A focal point of the program was an address from Congresswoman Kat Cammack. She offered a dose of tactical optimism, pointing to hard ballot figures from the early return pipeline. According to Cammack, Republican mail-in ballots were running 12 percent ahead of registered Democrats at that point in the cycle, signaling disciplined participation among core base voters despite the lackluster physical turnout in the hall.

Speakers took to the podium flanked by oversized American and Florida flags, delivering standard stump themes centered on property tax burdens, local infrastructure concerns, and resistance to progressive policies. Candidate placards and stage banners lined the room, alongside promotional notices for Republican Party of Florida Chairman Evan Power and upcoming regional gatherings, including an American Victory reception for Cammack scheduled for next week in neighboring Marion County.

Yet the disconnect between party leadership’s official optimism and the room’s ground-level enthusiasm was hard to overlook. While early ballot returns show a statistical edge on paper, Thursday night’s thin crowd in Alachua underscores an ongoing challenge for regional party organizers: translating mail-in metrics into active, engaged, room-filling conservative energy before the polls close on Election Day.

The regular Republican Party is too incompetent, cowardly and corrupt to defend America from the globalist, communist and jihadist revolution that is being conducted by the Democrat party.
Accordingly, the solution must include independent Republican organizations, such as: (1) the Republican Liberty Caucus; (2) Florida League of Republican Voters; (3) Heritage Action Sentinels; and (4) the Election Integrity Brigade.
