Several Republican leaders are asking the Pope to take action on the grave situation in Nicaragua, where the Ortega-Murillo regime is persecuting Catholic priests in that country. The best Catholic priests have been expelled without any justification. Very unfortunate in a nation with a large majority of Catholic faithful.

Over the weekend it was reported that former President Biden had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. We don’t yet know what stage he is in, or if there is any concrete report on the case. But what a poor job the White House doctors did — they are supposed to check the Presidents for their annual report! Either they didn’t check him, or they didn’t want to tell the public the truth about the President. They hid his mental condition and his general health status!

The question we’re all asking after the revelations about Joe Biden’s health is: who was really running the country during these four terrible years? The Miami Independent warned two years ago that the real President was Barack Obama, sometimes acting with the rest of the Democrat Triumvirate - - Pelosi and Schumer - - and always working through the administrative state.

It’s now official: the former Mayor of Hialeah and popular Republican politician, Esteban Bovo, has joined Corcoran Partners, one of the leading political consulting firms in Florida. Its leader, Michael Corcoran, worked for the Florida Republican Party at the beginning of his career and later formed a successful lobbying firm with a reputation for effective work. Congratulations to Steve Bovo and his wife Viviana! Now they can attempt to monetize their political connections, especially given that Viviana is a senior staff member for Secretary of State Rubio. Maybe Steve did not want to try to run for re-election after having raised taxes during his tenure.

Two dead and dozens injured is the result of the Mexican training ship crashing into the Brooklyn Bridge in New York. A terrible accident at the famous Brooklyn Bridge, where hundreds of people go daily to “sightsee.” A real tragedy!

Both Vice President Vance and Secretary of State Rubio attended the first mass offered by the new Pope in Rome, and then had the opportunity to speak with him. Vance delivered the official invitation — sent via him by President Trump — for the Pontiff to visit the White House when his schedule allows. A beautiful opportunity for two American Catholic officials to share with the supreme leader of the Roman Catholic Church.

Amid a massive reorganization, the FBI announced the immediate relocation of more than 1,000 agents from its main offices in Washington to other cities. The FBI Director is trying to change the FBI's style and way of operating. Surely it will be for the benefit of the country.

The attacks and cruel murders continue in Mexico, with the killings of a woman internet influencer and a mayoral candidate. The situation in Mexico is worrying and reflects poorly on the new President, who turns a blind eye to so much disorder and cruelty. The cartels are in total control!

It was announced that the largest Mercedes-Benz factory in Germany will be relocated to the United States to avoid tariffs on cars that are so popular in this country. Without a doubt, Trump’s strategy is working.

President Donald Trump is now the favorite to win the Nobel Peace Prize for his incredible efforts to achieve peace in all corners of the world. Let’s hope he gets it!

New York has lost $9 billion in income to Miami in recent years due to residents moving to Sunny South Florida. Miami is the preferred city for New Yorkers. Very interesting!

Argentina’s Attorney General, Eduardo Casal, has just requested that the Supreme Court sentence Cristina Kirchner to 12 years in prison for her corruption during her government service. We’ll see what happens!

One of the most popular restaurants in Coral Gables, Fiola, will close its doors on Saturday, June 21, to make way for the award-winning Fort Lauderdale restaurant, Daniel’s. A steakhouse that earned a Michelin star within six weeks of opening. As for the Fiola group, they have already announced the opening of a restaurant similar to Fiola inside the new Vista location on Grove Isle. It will be called The Sponge and is expected to open in November 2025. Grove Isle residents are eagerly awaiting it!
