Doral, Florida – America is not a nation of immigrants. It is a nation founded by colonial settlers from northwest Europe, beginning with Virginia in 1607, Massachusetts in 1620, and New York in 1625. These settlers built a new nation from scratch, with minimal input from the American Indians they encountered. They were predominantly radical, dissenting, Protestant, Christians—or closely aligned with that tradition—and the nation they created reflects those foundational principles.

These settlers established the American republic in 1776, preserved the Union in 1865, and were leading the world in the Industrial Revolution by 1913. These achievements attracted genuine immigrants from other parts of Europe, who brought similar but distinct cultural traditions. In 1924, Congress imposed limits on immigration to allow time for these immigrants to assimilate into the national culture. During the Second World War, American military units featured many assimilated children of these immigrants, fighting together for a common cause.

In 1965, Congress reopened immigration from all parts of the world. The following year, your columnist arrived with his family from Communist Cuba. This second wave of immigration has had a profound impact on America, including the founding of many new businesses.
However, over the past 60 years, America’s national culture has been steadily unraveled from within. Beginning around the Civil Rights movement and the Vietnam War, many U.S. citizens turned away from traditional American values and instead sought to construct a new, woke, progressive, technocratic republic.
As a result, many in this second wave of immigrants have failed to assimilate. That’s why we now see Mexican and other foreign flags flown in defiance of federal immigration enforcement. These flag-wavers are today’s version of Confederates.
Unassimilated Aliens
This year, we are witnessing several ongoing challenges from unassimilated aliens to the political culture of the American republic:
1. New York City:
Zohran Mamdani, the Democrat candidate for mayor, identifies as a Democratic Socialist and a Muslim. In effect, he is a Communist jihadist—ideologically opposed to the American political tradition.

2. Minneapolis:
The Democrat-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party convention has endorsed State Senator Omar Fateh for mayor over incumbent Jacob Frey, who is also a DFL member but will remain in the electoral race.
Fateh is Minnesota’s version of Mamdani—not “Minnesota Nice.” He is a Muslim from Somalia and also a self-identified Democratic Socialist, claiming that “progressive” isn’t far-left enough.
During the George Floyd riots in 2020, his Senate campaign office distributed first aid, food and water to rioters, looters and arsonists. As a state senator, he has supported:
1. Mandatory prayer breaks for Muslim workers
2. Taxpayer-funded college tuition for illegal aliens
3. A local income tax targeting high earners

State Senator John Hoffman—shot last month in a targeted attack—sent a video endorsement of Fateh to the DFL convention. One delegate told a local radio station:
“People are starting to accept socialist and more to-the-left politics, which, in my view, is a good thing. It’s a progressive thing.”
Fateh has been praised for supporting union workers and "humane homeless response policies."
If elected, he promises to:
1. Make Minneapolis affordable for working people
2. Prohibit local police from cooperating with federal immigration agents
3. Send social workers on roughly half of all police calls
4. Raise the minimum wage
5. Impose rent control—falsely believing that it will incentivize new construction
Together, Mamdani and Fateh embody a red-green alliance of Communist jihadists who oppose the American political tradition.

But that’s not all.
3. South Florida:
Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar (FL-27) and Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart (FL-26) have introduced the “Dignity Act,” proposing amnesty for illegal aliens. But if these aliens truly sought dignity, they would not have entered our country illegally.
Though these Cuban-American legislators were born in the U.S., they illustrate that loyalty to the American republic is not conferred by birth alone—it must be earned through conviction. Birth in the United States may confer citizenship, but not necessarily “Americanness.” The former is a legal status; the latter, a cultural commitment.
This new legislation resembles Congresswoman Salazar’s earlier 2023 proposal. It applies only to illegal aliens who were present in the U.S. before the end of 2020. It was in 2021 that the Obama-Biden 3.0 administration opened the border to what became an unchecked invasion of up to 20 million illegal aliens.
Salazar claims that illegal aliens support key industries. She proposes a path to legal status through work, taxes, and economic contribution. But citizenship cannot be earned merely through good works—it requires adherence to American principles, including respect for the rule of law.
Supporters argue that most illegal aliens are law-abiding and hard-working. Yet they began their American journey by breaking the law. First impressions are lasting ones.
Calls for “humane treatment” of illegal aliens ignore the real inhumanity: the open-borders policy that has fueled mass human trafficking under Obama-Biden 3.0. Calls for due process in deportation ring hollow when there was no due process in this unlawful mass entry.
Yes, employers may face labor shortages—but millions of Americans have dropped out of the workforce. They must be reengaged if we are to restore the nation.
President Trump has rejected this proposed legislation outright. Just as he is gaining momentum in deporting illegal aliens, some RINOs are attempting to undermine him. Trump is doing exactly what the American people elected him to do.

Immigration without assimilation is invasion, surrender and suicide!
I immigrated from Canada - never had a problem
in two Mexican favored states - in sanctuary city I got a taste of racism from the mexican democrats - I'm still trying to clean up.
