Miami, Florida - Secretary of State Marco Rubio has become the most popular political figure in the current administration. Although Vice President J.D. Vance is the candidate with a well-oiled machine behind his 2028 presidential bid, your columnist would not hesitate to say that, when the chips are down, Marco Rubio would easily defeat him for the Republican presidential nomination.

Marco, however, has declared that he will not run against J.D. Our Secretary of State has come a long way from Lil Marco to Secretary Rubio. In 2023 Senator Rubio teamed up with Senator Tim Kaine, D-Va, to pass legislation providing that no President may quit NATO without the consent of the Senate. Who was he trying to tie up?

Another strong contender could be Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, but he is trailing badly in the polls. Few people trust a man who betrayed his political mentor. Donald Trump’s endorsement is what allowed DeSantis to win the governorship of Florida.

The people, however, allowed themselves to be disarmed by their government, so that their protests are close to failing because of their government’s brutal repression. The people are defenseless!

The controversial actor George Clooney and his family decided to move to France, and the French government quickly granted citizenship to Monsieur George Timothy Clooney, his wife Madame Amal Alamuddin, and their twin children, Ella and Alexander Clooney. I hope they don’t end up like others who moved to the United Kingdom and are already back. Good riddance!

The Speaker of the U.S. House commented that he expects Trump to deliver the State of the Union address before Congress and special guests on Tuesday, February 24.

Republican Congressman from California Doug LaMalfa, only 65 years old, died unexpectedly. He represented Northern California’s First District, near the Oregon border. This leaves the House in a dangerous balance of 218 seats for Republicans and 213 for Democrats.

Martí Noticias in Miami reported that the daughters of Cuban Colonel Alfonso Roca-Sánchez, killed during the capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, reside in the United States. Roca-Sanchez was a trusted man of Raúl and Fidel Castro. He was sent to Venezuela not only to guard Maduro, but also to hold him prisoner, in case he tried to do something against the Cuban regime.

Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal ordered the dissolution of the Polish Communist Party, and the banning of communism for violating the Constitution and promoting crimes against humanity. A party should not glorify criminals responsible for the deaths of millions of people. In the United States, however, the Constitution protects their right to say so. In America, the solution for bad speech is good speech, not no speech.

The 2026 mid-term elections are going to be red-hot. There are already many declared candidates who are either pro-Trump or critical of him. Among the latter is Democrat Congressional candidate George Conway, former husband of Kellyanne Conway, who was Trump’s right-hand woman in 2016. George is a bad-tempered lawyer with enormous hatred who is running in New York City. Poor Kellyanne suffered greatly being married to this brute, whom she finally divorced in 2023.

Paloma Valencia, the presidential candidate backed by former President Uribe, is running an excellent campaign in Colombia for the elections to be held in May. Colombians are fed up with the policies of former guerrilla President Gustavo Petro, and your columnist would not hesitate to say that the opposition will sweep the vote this year.

Michael Reagan, son of former President Ronald Reagan, died of cancer. Michael, the eldest of Reagan’s children, died at the age of 80. He was conservative who distinguished himself through years of political activity.

A husband arrives home at four in the morning, clearly drunk, singing loudly and very happy. His annoyed wife says to him, “You shameless man! Where are you coming from at this hour?” The husband replies, “Don’t remind where I’m coming from, or I’ll feel like going back.”
