The Governor of Minnesota and the Mayor of Minneapolis needed to divert attention from the outrageous welfare fraud committed by Somalians in their state, and they succeeded, to some extent. The two Communist agitators shot and killed by federal officers have created a crisis of alarming proportions and have the entire country shaken. Unfortunately, Democrats have lost all sense of shame, and not even snowstorms stop them. What is happening in this country is lamentable.
The same head of ICE, Tom Homan, who worked with President Obama and expelled three million illegal aliens from our country, is the same one now working with PresidentTrump. Under Obama there was not a single complaint. Now there is a “crisis.” The Democrat opposition to the enforcement of federal immigration law is immoral and anti-American!
Cuba’s electrical system has completely collapsed, leaving Havana without electricity. What Cuba is going through is horrifying, and the criminals who govern it have no intention of leaving with the billions of dollars they stole from the republic. Everything has its limit, and that moment has arrived—after 67 years—to reflect and demand an end to this unspeakable crime.
Pope Leo XIV sent a message to all participants in the March for Life held in Washington, D.C. The pontiff thanked everyone for their collaboration and asked them to remain active in the pro-life movement.
Some 200 million people are suffering freezing temperatures, with cities practically paralyzed by snowstorms and cold weather across the United States. According to historians, these have been the worst snowfalls in 10 years. Lucky are those of us in Miami who managed to escape this terrible weather, even if we still have chilly temperatures.
Usha Vance, the wife of Vice President J. D. Vance, announced that she is expecting her fourth child at the end of July. Congratulations to the parents!
The Wall Street Journal reports that President Trump is trying to get rid of the Havana mafia before the end of the year. If that happens, Trump will make history as the first U.S. president to successfully terminate long-standing Communist power in the hemisphere. God willing!
The number of murders in the United States fell by 20% in 2025. Credit must be given to President Trump’s policies of closing the border, expelling illegal aliens, and genrally enforcing law and order. Excellent numbers that we hope will continue to decline in 2026.
The United States has finally withdrawn from the World Health Organization, following what President Trump had announced some time ago, after 77 years of membership. One of the reasons for this decision was the organization’s poor performance during the terrible COVID shutdowns worldwide.
The U.S. ambassador to Colombia, Laura Dogu, has been appointed to chair the group that will work with Venezuela. So far, there is no ambassador in Caracas, and everything will be handled from Colombia. Laura Dogu was ambassador to Honduras and Nicaragua during the Obama and Biden administrations.
Temperatures in Miami this week will be low. Please bundle up!
Presidential polls in Brazil show Bolsonaro with 48% and Lula with 42% of voting intention for the election in October this year.
Nearly eight million Venezuelans have left their country during this millenium, since the election of a democratic socialist president, Hugo Chavez, in 1998. They moved mainly to ten other countries: Colombia has 2.8 million, Peru 1.7 million, the United States almost one million, Brazil 732,000, Chile 669,400, Spain 602,500, Ecuador 440,400, Argentina 174,800, Mexico 106,000, and the Dominican Republic 100,000. None moved to another communist country, like Cuba or Nicaragua. These are staggering figures—one fourth of the country’s total population in exile.
Venezuela cannot continue in limbo. The freedom of all political prisoners must be resolved, Interior Minister Diosdado and Defense Minister Padrino must be removed from their positions, and Delcy and Jorge Rodríguez must be sidelined. Elections were held and Edmundo and María Corina won. They must be helped so they can govern, but allowing the Chavistas/Maduristas to continue to govern the country, even under United States supervision, is—in the humble opinion of your columnist—a serious mistake.
The press has stirred up a “huge commotion” around Julio Iglesias, and even supposedly serious organizations have fallen into this “romantic soap opera.” We know Julio was a ladies’ man, but we doubt that the accusations we’ve heard about attacks on two domestic employees in the Dominican Republic are true. Julio is a gentleman, and everything he did in his “previous life” was by mutual consent with the women involved. I believe serious organizations should evaluate and investigate these accusations more thoroughly before giving them days of continuous coverage. Our modest opinion!
A child asks his father with great curiosity: “Dad, how do you know when someone is drunk?” The father replied, “Easy, son. Do you see those two men coming down the street? If I were drunk, I’d see four!” Then the son said, “But Dad, there’s only one person coming!”
