President Trump’s State of the Union address was the longest ever. An excellent presentation by Trump, although he “lost his composure” while looking at the faces of the two congresswomen from the Squad. And anyone would have, seeing them holding signs that read “F… ICE.” What a lack of respect! It is worth highlighting the introduction the President gave to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the applause he received. Publicly, Trump said he was the best Secretary of State of all time. And we all agree!
At the very least, Rubio is right up there with Secretaries of State John Quincy Adams, who acquired Florida from Spain, and proposed the Monroe Doctrine, and William Seward, who kept the European powers away from supporting the Confederacy during the Civil War, and later acquired Alaska from Russia.
Prince Andrew Mountbatten Windson of the United Kingdom was arrested on allegations of suspected misconduct. All of it stemming from Andrew’s friendship with the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew was Queen Elizabeth II’s favorite son and was always “a bit of a wild one.”
The Supreme Court of the United States, in a 6–3 vote, announced that the imposition of additional tariffs on various countries could not be carried out solely by executive order under emergency legislation, but only by Congress. A serious setback for the Trump administration. Trump is “foaming at the mouth” over this decision. Nevertheless, almost all these tariff provisions can be applied by the administration under regular legislation.
Senator John Kennedy (R-Louisiana) is one of the most intelligent and likable men in the Senate. His remarks and responses are brilliant. He said that Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York speaks two languages: English and stupid. In reality, dear Senator, this scatterbrain speaks three languages: English, Spanish and stupid.
Yoon Suk Yeol, the former president of South Korea, has been sentenced to life in prison for his decision to try to remain in power improperly.
Melania Trump sent one of her gala dresses to the Smithsonian Institution to add it to the collection of First Ladies’ gowns. A beautiful black-and-white dress that she wore during her husband’s inauguration and later displayed in the documentary “Melania.”
Cuban security agents who were in Venezuela left the country along with members of the “so-called medical missions.” Apparently, Interim President Delcy Rodríguez received specific instructions from America to send those individuals back to Cuba.
Susan Rice, the former right-hand woman of President Barack Obama, has just declared that “Republicans should soak themselves” if they lose the upcoming elections. An arrogant and irresponsible message! Susan was the real power behind the throne during the Obama-Biden 3.0 administration.
Our excellent governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, announced that the number of tourists who visited Florida in 2025 was 143.3 million people, including both domestic and international tourism. Another record for our state and another triumph for DeSantis!
Cuba has experienced a notable drop in the number of American tourists visiting the island: 22% in the last year, and it is expected that this year the figures will be even lower (unless the communist regime is removed from power).
Reverend Jesse Jackson, who was a prominent leader of African-Americans in the United States, died at the age of 84. Jackson was a strong opponent of the cause of a Free Cuba, when he embraced and supported the killer dictator Fidel Castro, even amid executions and imprisonment of young Cuban patriots. Toward the end of his life, he set the issue aside and no longer traveled to Cuba.
The head of the United States Southern Command, General Francis Donovan, visited Caracas, Venezuela, to speak with the interim government of Delcy Rodríguez, Diosdado Cabello and Vladimir Padrino. It would seem that they were receiving one of their Russian allies. Seeing is believing!
The famous musician Willie Colón died at the age of 75. His family announced his death without reporting the cause. One of the great figures of salsa, born in New York to Puerto Rican parents. May he rest in peace.
The national legislature of the Republic of Peru elected José María Balcázar as provisional president until July 28 of this year. This makes it eight presidents in 10 years for Peru. Simply a scandal. Mr. Balcázar is a retired judge, 83 years old. We shall see if he makes it to July 28.
To date, 22 Democrat Congressmembers and 29 Republicans have announced their intention not to seek reelection in November 2026. An enormous figure with no precedent! Nevertheless, turnover is good, and term limits are desirable.
The acclaimed and award-winning Hollywood actor Robert Duvall, 95 years old, passed away at his home in California. Duvall appeared in The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Natural, among other films. One of his best lines was as Lt. Colonel Kilgore in Vietnam: “I love the smell of napalm in the morning…. It smells of victory!.” May he rest in peace.
Billionaire Peter Thiel has just moved the offices of Palantir Technologies, where he is a controlling shareholder, from the city of Denver to Aventura, Florida, next to Miami. This is a very important decision and one that greatly benefits our city.
