Miami, Florida - We woke up on the last day of February to the news that the United States and Israel had attacked the criminal regime of Iran. Shortly afterward, the death of Khomeini, the country’s supreme leader, was confirmed. Along with him, members of his family and important followers were killed in a well-coordinated strike. It is a historic and dangerous moment. The bombings in Iran continue and will go on until the leaders who remain there surrender.

Former President Clinton declared that he had not the slightest idea about Epstein’s activities. This is the same Clinton—now older and more cunning—who once swore that he had no sexual relations with Monica Lewinsky. The same Clinton who was repeatedly accused of raping several women from Arkansas to the White House. The American people forgave many of his “adventures,” thinking that he had to “live with Hillary.” A lifelong liar!

Venezuela’s leftist opposition leader, María Corina Machado, announced her return ho,e in the coming weeks. María Corina is the most popular figure in her country, and a massive outpouring of people is expected to welcome her on the day of her arrival. We are aware of the tremendous dangers her return to Venezuela poses while interim President Delcy Rodríguez and her brother Jorge Rodriguez, head of the national legislature, as well as Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello and Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino, are still there. The courage she has demonstrated over the years is pushing her to return and stand at the head of her people. May God help her!

President Trump declared that we are witnessing “a friendly takeover of Cuba by the United States.” Friendly? There have been too many people executed, imprisoned and forced to live separated from their families for more than six decades. Too many parents were buried far from their children. With “friends” like those, we do not need enemies!

Another Republican in Congress has announced his decision to not seek re-election to the House of Representatives. It is former Navy SEAL Ryan Zinke of Montana. He served as Secretary of the Interior during Trump’s first term in the White House.
Alberto Carvalho, superintendent of the Los Angeles School System and who served for a decade as superintendent of Miami’s school system, has been suspended from his duties after the FBI entered his residences in Los Angeles and Miami. We will soon learn the results of it all. Regrettable!

Manuel “Manny” Morales, chief of the Miami Police Department, announced his retirement from the post effective October 2026. There are rumors that he is planning to run for city commissioner of District 4 in the November 2027 elections.

President Trump again said that if there is a vacancy on the Supreme Court, he would nominate Senator Ted Cruz for the position. That would be formidable because Senator Cruz is a constitutional scholar with great knowledge. God willing!

The popular American Cancer Inner Circle gala luncheon will be held this year at the Loews Hotel in Coral Gables, beginning at eleven in the morning on Friday, April 17. Successful and prominent women from our community will be honored on this occasion, including the president of Florida International University, former Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Núñez. This year the luncheon chairs are Raquel Kauffler and Lili Somoano. Many surprises are included in the luncheon. Tables or individual tickets may be purchased through the American Cancer Society by calling Daris Díaz at 786-202-6881. Don’t miss this wonderful event!

Larry Summers, the former Democrat Secretary of the Treasury in Bill Clinton’s administration, resigned from his position at Harvard University after his close relationship with the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein came to light in the latest released documents. Several “famous” figures have already had to resign because of their relationships with Epstein. Whatever he touched turned to dust.

Martí Productions and its director Tania Martí announced in a statement that they will suspend all their cultural and musical performances during the remaining months of 2026 for personal and work-related reasons. We hope everything can be resolved because Martí Productions has been at the forefront of art and good taste in our community. From La Esquinita we send them a strong round of applause.

A restaurant called “Mottai” has just opened in Coral Gables in The Plaza building. It is an original Japanese concept from Brazil. Apparently it will be a success, although we have not yet visited it. We will report on it soon.

Two madmen were planning how to escape from the asylum, and one said to the other: “I have the perfect vehicle for us to escape.” The other madman looked beside him and said: “But… why do we want that motorcycle without wheels?” The first madman replied, “So we won’t leave any tracks!”
