Miami, Florida - A few days ago, we received an invitation to speak at the presidential dinner held annually by the National Republican Committee in Washington, D.C. Normally, your columnist would have excused herself, but when they said that President Trump would be there, I thought it was my opportunity to tell him that the Cuban people needed to be free, and that Cuba has been suffering one of the cruelest tyrannies in the world for 67 long years.

Two days before we left, we received a call from the young entrepreneur Iván Herrera, owner of Uni-Vista Insurance, who was also going to the event. With all the problems at the airports and the delays, his offer to fly us there really seemed like a blessing. My daughter Rosa María, my grandson Fausto, and my sister Lilliam Machado, all went with me. I have rarely seen anyone with the patriotism of Iván and his charming wife Anaís, as well as their four children.

We arrived in D.C. and each group went to their own hotel. We would see each other the next day. Iván was scheduled to be the first speaker, and I the last one, before Trump spoke. The two of us—without coordinating—gave a full “discharge” about what we had gone there to seek: the freedom of our homeland. Modesty aside… we nailed it! We fulfilled a duty we had as Cubans, and afterward we felt happy.

The next morning, Iván and his wife went to the State Department, and my family and I went to Congress. We had walked those floors many times before representing the U.S.-Cuba Democracy PAC, and we remembered how many battles we had to fight there to get the necessary votes to prevent aid to the Communist regime in Cuba, as many enemies wanted (Senator McGovern (D-SD) was one of them, was near the office of our Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart). It was an unforgettable event, and I thanked God for allowing 900 people—including most of the Republican Congressmen in the country—to hear our words.

Forty-two candidates have registered to run for governor of Florida! Believe it or not! We are going to miss Ron DeSantis a lot; he has done a sensational job in his eight years as governor of this state.

The invention of “No Kings Day” in several cities across the country was sponsored by donors like George Soros and other enemies of freedom! And when you see Jane Fonda, the traitor who visited Hanoi. She visited during the time when American soldiers were fighting the Viet Cong and the country was totally divided. It turns your stomach.

Fortunately, the number of participants in Miami was minimal. The Miami Herald reports that approximately 400 people attended Tropical Park, which means about 200 more or less went to listen to the crook Jamie Raskin, the progressive (synonym for socialist) Congressman from Maryland and enemy of Cuba’s freedom. I am ashamed of those who, out of hatred for Trump, can join this guy!

The Senate voted in favor of Markwayne Mullin as Secretary of Homeland Security, 54-45. The only Republican who voted against was Rand Paul. Paul and Mullin have a personal feud. Two Democratic senators, Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Heinrich of New Mexico, joined the Republicans to support Mullin.

Cuba continues without electricity and the people can’t take it anymore. We need to end this nightmare so that after 67 long years, our compatriots can be free and happy! God help us! The CDM Press podcast today predicted that the situation in Cuba would break in May, either on May Day or on May 20, Cuban Independence Day, resulting in regime change.

The phrase that became popular in Cuba, “What we need here is food” (jama), which Pánfilo said, is now remembered even more because Pánfilo died in Cuba last week. May he rest in peace—the man who spoke an indisputable truth in difficult times! The Communist oligarchy in Cuba does not care for the welfare of ordinary people, and only works to enrich itself.

Another Republican Congressman who will not run in November, Sam Graves, from Missouri. All these retirements will make it harder to Republicans to keep their majority in Congress.

The Ultra Music Festival in Miami took place last weekend. On Sunday there were rains for several hours and the attendees were completely soaked (“passed through water”).

Tiger Woods, the golf legend, had an accident while driving near his home in Jupiter, Florida and was taken to jail! He refused to provide a urine sample, so it has not been possible to determine if he was intoxicated by alcohol or drugs. His current girlfriend is Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife, who is apparently very upset about the situation, because Tiger refuses to stop driving himself. Tiger insists that he wants to preserve his privacy by driving himself.

José and Lucy, after 60 years of marriage, appear before a judge to dissolve their union. The judge, troubled to see a couple in their eighties in this situation, asks them sadly: “But please, after a whole lifetime together, why do you decide to separate right now? What could have happened?” José leans toward the bench, adjusts his glasses, and says in a low voice, “Mr. Judge, the truth is we haven’t spoken to each other for 20 years, and this morning she finally spoke to me to ask for the divorce. You have no idea how happy I am, Mr. Judge. Where do I sign?”
