Panhandle, Florida - The other day I found myself reflecting on how sad it is that Americans can no longer truly communicate with one another. Ironically, much of the clear-eyed history and truth about America now seems to come more often from immigrants than from native-born citizens. Why is that?

One reason is that American history is no longer properly taught in our schools. Another, I believe, is that MAGA conservatives and Westerners view the world through one lens, while Marxist communists view it through an entirely different one. If we want to bridge this divide, perhaps we must try something different: making a genuine effort to understand how they have been taught to think.

Take Zohran Mamdani, Mayor of New York City, as an example. Look at his policies. We can already predict that he and his allies will drive millionaires and businesses out of New York City—and they are already leaving in droves. Where does Mamdani expect to find the money for his wildly unrealistic ideas—ideas we know from history will not work? Yet few in the media or political class dare ask him that basic “why” or “how” question. What are they afraid of?

We see his policies as profoundly irrational. Taxing the productive and the successful drives out the innovators and creators. The city declines, and with it, the civilization it represents. One of the world’s greatest cities—destroyed by ideology. Does Mamdani truly care about the people of New York? He gives them little thought except when they serve his purposes - - making citizens more dependent on government, and on him. A Marxist understands that if you drive out the millionaires, thinkers, and doers, no one remains to challenge his policies. Those left behind, reliant on government “free stuff,” become reliable voters who keep him in power indefinitely.

Communists have never cared about human life as an end in itself—only as a means to power. To them, people are subjects for experimentation and manipulation. Greed and resentment toward the successful become tools - - take from those who create, level the field, and sell the snake oil of equality. They have repeated this message for generations: “You will own nothing, and you will be happy. The government will take care of you.” Agenda 2030 is worth reading in full.

Recently, I had the pleasure of interviewing Claire Lopez on my radio show. A formidable researcher with deep intelligence community experience, Claire offered insights I hadn’t fully considered. Chief among them - - we have been judging Marxists-Islamists by our own standards rather than theirs. That fundamental mismatch makes it difficult to understand their motivations, thought processes, and seemingly irrational programs—let alone effectively counter them.

How do we fight them? How do we overcome these beliefs when they take root in our own country? Too often, instead of asking the hard “why,” we mock each other. They cannot grasp how we think, any more than we grasp their worldview. That is the core problem.

A Marxist believes that seizing property from those who have, and redistributing property to those who don’t, will somehow unite people, level the playing field, and create equality. But does Mamdani actually believe this? Or does he understand that by giving things away, he buys love, votes, and perpetual power? Make people’s lives miserable enough, the theory goes, and rather than rejecting government, they will turn to it—and to him—for solutions.

How do you get the public to embrace ever-greater government control? You lie to them.

The same holds for the IRGC, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps. Instead of using the nation’s oil wealth to improve citizens’ lives, they fund war against their own people and anyone who disagrees. They teach children that killing infidels is noble and that becoming a martyr for Muhammad is life’s highest purpose—necessary to hasten the return of the Messiah.

Join Claire Lopez and me as we discuss the story of Iran. It clarifies the nature of the conflict. The Quran commands jihad against non-believers and stands in total opposition to the U.S. Constitution. There is no tolerance for other faiths or ideas in its foundational texts. We cannot allow the politics of Islam to dominate America.

Is America worth saving? Then monitor your county commission meetings. Attend your school board meetings. Scrutinize election integrity issues and demand to know where your candidates truly stand. The lies only stop when we refuse to accept them.
