Doral, Florida - The One Big Beautiful Bill Act passed by Congress and signed by the President on July 3 this year contains significant policy victories for the MAGA and America First movement. Almost every Republican in Congress, plus of course our Republican President, supported this legislation.
I. Tax Cuts for Individuals
1. The Act prevents a $4 billion tax hike that would have happened at the end of this year. Every Democrat in Congress voted for this tax hike, which would have been the largest in the history of the United States.
2. It saves Americans an average of over $2,300 per year in federal income taxes between 2026 and 2034, plus indirect savings from cuts in business taxes.
3. It preserves and increases the standard deduction for individuals to over $15,000, and for married couples to over $31,000.
4. It helps families by raising the child tax credit to $2,200.
5. It creates a new deduction of $6,000 per eligible senior citizen, and $12,000 for two married seniors, for which your columnist is much obliged.
The Act extends and expands the Trump tax cuts of 2017, which laid the foundation for economic growth since they were enacted, despite the Covid shutdowns and the anti-growth policies of the Obama-Biden 3.0 administration.
II. Tax Cuts for Businesses
1. The Act allows companies to deduct from their taxes due 100% of their investments in property, plant and equipment, in the first year of such investment, without having to stretch out deductions over the useful life of the investment.
2. It permanently extends the small business deduction up to 20% of income earned.
3. It allows immediate deduction from taxes due of all expenses incurred in constructing and investing in new factories, refineries and agricultural buildings.
The Act creates long-term certainty for businesses, and promotes job-creation, investment and productivity.
III. Border Security and Immigration Enforcement
1. The Act increases funding to build the wall with Mexico, to create miles of barriers on the Rio Grande, to erect other supporting barriers, and to hire 3,000 new agents for the Border Patrol.
2. It increases funding to hire 10,000 new federal agents for immigration enforcement, and for more immigration magistrates.
3. It enacts a tax on remittances sent by workers in the United States to other countries.
The Act secures our borders, enforces the rule of law, and regains control of immigration.
IV. Countering Welfare Abuse
1. The Act requires able-bodied adults to look for work as a condition to receiving public welfare benefits.
2. It tightens eligibility requirements and removes at least 1.4 million illegal aliens from the rolls.
3. It removes “ghost enrollees” and dead people from Medicaid and Medicare rolls.
V. Other Wins
1. The Act also invests over $150 billion in military buildup, prioritizing warship procurement and expanding America’s shipbuilding capacity.
2. It expands American military manufacturing and production capacity, which won the Second World War and the Cold War, reducing reliance on foreign supply chains.
3. It defunds Planned Parenthood and reinforces the Hyde Amendment prohibiting government funding of abortions.
4. It reduces giveaways to crony capitalists from the Green New Deal programs enacted by the Obama-Biden 3.0 administration, including eliminating tax credits for Electric Vehicles.
5. It implements borrowing caps on student loans.
MAGA and America First Victory
This legislation represents a substantial victory for the MAGA and America First movement, working through the Republican Party. America has a two-party system, and third parties in America are for losers. Ross Perot showed us that, and apparently Elon Musk just learned this lesson.
Instead, the MAGA and America First movement, representing the conservative and libertarian cause, must continue to work through the Republican Party, warts and all. That does not mean, however, that conservatives should accommodate ourselves to the party’s failings. Too many in the Republican establishment treat politics as their business, and will go to any extreme, including lawlessness, to preserve their positions.
Grassroots conservatives must work inside and alongside the Republican establishment to promote our MAGA objectives. In Florida, groups like Defend Florida, www.defendflorida.org, and the Reclaim Campaign, www.reclaimcampaign.com, are carrying on the fight to promote our conservative principles, despite the Republican establishment.
This summer grassroots conservatives are holding Reclaim Campaign summits across the state to air our grievances and plan to reclaim our government. MAGA candidates are preparing to challenge RINO incumbents in the Republican primaries next August.
