     ### Key Issues in Early Campaigns: Candidates' Platforms Emphasize Miami Beach's Unique Challenges as a Tourist Hub and Coastal City. Common themes include: - **Public Safety**: Addressing crime (e.g., violent incidents, spring break chaos) through increased policing and enforcement in entertainment districts. - **Short-Term Rentals and Party Houses**: Stricter regulations to curb noise, overcrowding, and neighborhood disruptions, and property owners' rights. - **Sea-Level Rise and Resilience**: Funding for drainage, flood mitigation, and infrastructure bonds to combat flooding and climate impacts. - **Development and Traffic**: Balancing growth with limits on overdevelopment, reducing congestion, and revitalizing areas like Lincoln Road. - **Budget and Economy**: Reducing reliance on resort taxes, streamlining permits, and promoting affordability amid high costs. - **Mobility and Parking**: Improving transit, regulating e-scooters, and addressing parking shortages. Campaigns are still in their early stages, with more details expected as qualifying concludes and debates intensify. Voter registration deadlines are quickly approaching. Ensure your registration is up to date. Go to the Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections for more information.
