Doral, Florida - Earlier this month Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) spoke at a luncheon event organized by Community Newspapers in Pinecrest. Then on Tuesday, August 20 he won the Republican primary for his re-election against two opponents with neither name recognition nor viable alternatives. He is favored to win the general election on Tuesday, November 5 against former Congresswoman Debbie Murcasel Powell (D-Pinecrest).
Senator Scott has also announced his candidacy later this year for Senate Republican Leader, most likely Majority Leader, against Senators John Cornyn of Texas and John Thune of South Dakota. There is speculation that Donald Trump will support Senator Scott for that position after the general election in November. As part of his campaign, Senator Scott has proposed a “Plan to Rescue America.” He warns us that: “Great nations don’t automatically last forever.”
According to Senator Scott, the threats to America are right in front of us: (1) Unsustainable government debt. (2) Free speech is censored and cancelled. (3) Woke progressive education is poisoning the minds of our children. (4) Inflation, currency devaluation and supply-chain obstructions are rampant. ((5) Weak foreign policy highlighted by the retreat from Kabul. (6) Open borders letting in waves of illegal aliens. (7) Crime is rampant in our cities. (8) Energy transition to scarcity and dependency, while catering to crony capitalism. (9) Medicare coverage is threatened by the policies of the Biden-Harris administration. (10) Eroding work ethic by government paying people not to work. (11) Men destroying women’s sports. (12) Racism and division is taught in schools. (13) Federal government monitoring concerned parents at school board meetings. (14) Government growing while the private-sector is shrinking. (15) Lethal drugs pouring in from China through our open borders.
Senator Scott points out that the militant left controls the federal government, the mainstream media, academia, Hollywood and corporate boardrooms. They are attacking American history, patriotism, border security, the nuclear family, gender roles, Judeo-Christian morality and values, capitalism, fiscal responsibility, opportunity to advance, rugged individualism, free speech, color blindness, law enforcement, religious liberty, parental involvement in public school, and private ownership of firearms.
But America will not collapse if patriots fight back.
Senator Scott proposes the following responses in his “Plan to Rescue America:”
1. Return patriotism to the school curriculum, and give parents school choice.
2. Remove from government forms any reference to race, ethnicity or skin color.
3. Restore law enforcement and full criminal prosecutions. Fund and support the police. No tolerance for “Mostly peaceful protests.”
4. Finish building the wall along our southwest border. America requires lawful immigration and cultural assimilation.
5. Stop the spread of socialism in America by shrinking the federal government and privatizing its assets.
6. Move federal functions to local governments, and enact term limits for Congress and the federal bureaucracy.
7. Enforce election integrity nationwide.
8. Preserve the central role of the nuclear family in American civilization, and protect parental rights in education and everywhere.
9. Reject the transgender agenda and abortions, which are in effect killings of unborn people.
10. Restore religious freedom in our public square, and reject the secular humanism of the left and Big Tech.
11. Restore commitment to American citizenship over globalism, and put America first.
12. Rein in federal taxation and unsustainable spending, which is bankrupting America.
These positions are popular in Florida, and Senator Scott is expected to win re-election. With the support of a President Trump, he would likely win the role of Senate Majority Leader, finally replacing Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky), the longest-serving Senate leader in United States History. This would be another good position to make subject to term limits.
Recent polling shows that Senator Scott holds a slim lead of one percentage point in Miami-Dade County, which he lost six years ago by 21 percentage points. He returned to Miami-Dade County this week, attending the meeting of the Women’s Republican Club of Miami, Federated, in Coral Gables.
