One of the silver linings of the recent years – during the global spread of Marxist tyranny in the form of lockdowns, forced jabbing, and censorship galore – was finding voices for freedom such as KrisAnne Hall's.
A lawyer, Constitutionalist, and resident of Florida to boot, she spoke forcefully on the correct interpretation of the Constitution, our God-given rights, and our right as citizens to respond “I will not comply!” to unlawful, unconstitutional, and enslaving demands. (The film based on her lectures was named “Non-Complaint”.)
Her last book, Sovereign Duty, was a clarion call which confirmed that we not only have rights, we have duties – including resisting tyranny at all costs. In 2022 I was able to pick up a copy at a Citizens Defending Freedom event in Miami, where Ms. Hall was the featured speaker. (She kindly inscribed the book with her signature and the Acts 5:29 verse number.)
Why do I mention all this in regards to sheriffs?
Because a chapter is appropriately titled “A New Sheriff In Town” – which is exactly what is happening in Miami-Dade, where the right (and duty) to elect the country sheriff has been recuperated after two generations, with the monumental event/election occurring on Aug. 20th.
As I learned in Ms. Hall’s book, a Constitutional Sheriff is fundamental to the protection of our freedoms. (The Police Power resides with the States, not the Federal Government, per the 10th Amendment. State constitutions delegate – as does the practice of Common Law – that power to County Sheriffs.)
The Sheriff is duty-bound (by oath) to protect and defend the Constitution, not to willy-nilly “enforce the law.” An easy example: a new Federal law permits the confiscation of arms during a natural disaster. A Constitutional Sheriff, clearly, would not enforce such a blatantly unconstitutional law – and should block federal agents from trying to. (Brave Constitutional Sheriffs, such as Richard Mack and Nicholas Finch, have blazed the trail.)
Earlier this week I was able to attend a meet-and-greet hosted by the active and engaged Federated Republican Women of Miami Beach (FRWOMB), which included 7 Republican candidates for Sheriff.
During their opening statements, I was delighted that one candidate (but only one!) self-described at a Constitutional Sheriff. Her name: Rosanna (Rosie) Cordero-Stutz.
During Q & A and after an extensive debate on what to do about lackadaisical courts, I was able to query the experienced group on their Constitutional duties – if they were aware of them and if they would block a Federal law enforcement officer from executing an unconstitutional order within their territory.
By my sights, only 3 candidates gave coherent answers, demonstrating at least a basic familiarity with the concept of a Constitutional Sheriff. Besides Major Cordero-Stutz, the other two candidates aware of the challenges we all face (from a rogue federal government) were John Rivera and Mario Knapp.
Major Cordero-Stutz (she preferred being called just “Rosie”) shared the news that she had in the prior days been endorsed by President Trump – which she correctly opined points out the high importance of the local race.
There are some questions about how she was able to win President Trump’s endorsement – apparently it was Rep. Carlos Gimenez (a RINO voting consistently for the nation’s destruction in Congress) who recommended her to Trump – but, however she got it, it demonstrates political savvy.
After the meet-and-greet, I was able to further question Major Cordero-Stutz and, without going in our off-the-record exchange, she gave me full confidence that she deserves the endorsement.
There are 15 or more Republican candidates for Sheriff. It is every citizen’s and patriot’s duty to educate themselves on the candidates to make an informed decision on August 20th.
As Thomas Paine famously declared, “These are the times that try a man’s soul…Tyranny like Hell is not easily conquered” (American Crisis, Dec.19., 1776). We are at a similar time in America’s history.

Somebody needs spell check and a proof-read.
I worked for a Constitutional Sheriff in Florida 55 years ago. The month prior to swearing in was intense study of the US and Florida Constitutions and a test had to be passed then and about every time you saw the sheriff after that. He gave spot quizzes in the halls.
It's different when the people you're dealing with are citizens and voters, not 'enemies'.
The county sheriff is a citizens FIRST line of defense, not the last.
