Liberalism, a political philosophy that emerged in the 18th century, emphasized individual rights, freedom of speech, free markets, and limited government intervention in social and economic affairs.  Influential thinkers like John Locke and Adam Smith argued for natural rights, including life, liberty, and property, and believed that government should be limited to protecting these rights.  The United States Constitution, a product of this era, enshrined these principles, creating a nation founded on individualism and the pursuit of happiness.

In the 19th century, liberalism evolved in response to the Industrial Revolution and the growth of democracy.  Classical liberals like Jeremy Bentham and John Stuart Mill emphasized utilitarianism, the idea that public policy should aim to maximize overall happiness.  They also advocated for greater political participation and representation.  However, by the late 19th and early 20th centuries, some liberals began to question the adequacy of classical liberalism in addressing social and economic inequality.  This questioning led to the development of “new liberalism” or “social liberalism,” which advocated for a more active role of government in promoting social welfare and regulating the economy.1

Over time, social liberals drifted further away from the original values of liberalism, embracing an increasingly interventionist and authoritarian approach to government.  They sought to impose their vision of social justice and equality, often at the expense of individual liberty and free markets.  In the process, they aligned themselves with globalists who sought to undermine national sovereignty and erode the foundations of Western democracy.

The 2024 American election marked a turning point in this struggle between individualism and totalitarianism.  The election of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States signaled a rejection of the false values and failed policies of liberals, progressives, and globalists.  Trump’s victory was a clear mandate for a return to the principles of limited government, individual liberty, and economic freedom that made America great.

Throughout his campaign, Trump exposed the hypocrisy and corruption of the liberal establishment, which had long claimed to champion the interests of the common people while enriching themselves at the expense of the working class.  He called out the media for their bias and dishonesty, and he challenged the globalist agenda that sought to erode American sovereignty and ship jobs overseas.

Trump’s election was a watershed moment in the fight against the forces of totalitarianism that had sought to destroy the very foundations of Western civilization.  It was a triumph of the spirit of individualism and the belief in the inherent dignity and worth of every human being, regardless of their race, creed, or background.

As we move forward into this new era, we must remain vigilant against the forces of totalitarianism that seek to undermine our freedom and our way of life.  We must reject the false values of liberalism, progressivism, and globalism and return to the principles of limited government, individual liberty, and economic freedom that made America great.  One key element will be eliminating the Department of Education and its encroachment on the values being taught to our youth.  The progressive and revisionist version of history and the Liberal Arts will likely take a generation to repair, but thankfully, the eyes of Americans are now open.  Let’s keep them open.

The election of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States is a sign of hope for all those who cherish freedom and individualism.  It is a reminder that the fight against totalitarianism is not over and that we must continue to stand up for our values and our beliefs, no matter the cost.  We can build a brighter future for ourselves and generations to come with courage and determination.
