Does anyone know a pastor who partially or totally abandoned the flock in 2020? I do. In my humble view this included closing any church due to worldly, illegitimate dictums and being intimidated and silenced by the so-called “governing authorites” to not speak out.
We are all human and, no doubt, most of us were caught by surprise by the profoundly evil events of that year. (See my opinion piece from last year, titled Pastors Have Failed US Miserably, which according to the publisher went viral.)
Truth be told, had I been pastoring a church that year I would have made similar mistakes – at least at first.
Now, just when the forces of evil are attempting to gather another storm (more Covid “variants,” more masking, more mandates), pastors are uniting with a common front in God’s word.
In late September, an initiative called The Remnant Alliance was launched nationally from Lakeland, FL. It is comprised of a group of national organizations which have spearheaded the fight, by informing, educating, and supporting pastors to move from frustration to engagement.
Their mission statement sums it up well:
“To educate, motivate and equip the body of Christ so they have the tools to influence culture and governance, and lead America back to God’s moral values as our standard for living.”
This involves waking up the slumbering church body (and the Laodicean church of end times) to return America – still the world’s last great hope, after Jesus Christ – back to the Judeo-Christian values that were the source of so many blessings.
A who’s who of Christian action organizations gave presentations, including Liberty Pastors (whose training course is the first step for many pastors to get involved), Patriot Academy (whose Biblical Citizenship, or BC, course is fundamental for both pastors and flock), Salt & Light Council Ministry, and Citizens Defending Freedom (CDF), which provides a clear and well supported path. (Other partners include All Pro Pastors International and Recover America, which directly support pastors and church leaders.)
The recommended path is highlighted by CDF Faith’s succinct call to action:
1) Humble yourself before God and pray fervently
2) Recognize that opposing evil is part of being a child of God
3) Educate yourself
4) Know your elected officials
5) Be salt & light: vote; share; proselytize
6) Take action: volunteer, host BC course; attend school board meetings & rallies; help sign up others
As Jim McClain, CDF’s National Director of Faith Operations, commented, “[The focus is] giving pastors tools to actually engage with culture. That engagement includes both governance as well as assaults on morality in the marketplace.”
He elaborated on the biblical imperative to get engaged:
"Proverbs 25:26 says that the righteous [falling down before the wicked] are like a polluted well and they allow evil to prevail. That polluted well doesn’t mean smelly water, it means literally poison. So we become poison when we allow evil to prevail. So what the pastor realizes is that upholding the gospel of Jesus Christ includes both spreading the gospel, making disciples, and opposing evil. It is all of that put together.”
Do you have a pastor who regrets not defending the flock against evil agendas (such as keeping whore houses open over houses of God), or falling for the unConstitutional and false reading of “separation of church and state”? Then share the site TheRemnantAlliance.com, organize a Biblical Citizenship course in your church, and re-commit to a plan which upholds God’s moral law as guide to all our actions.
Does your pastor, like many, get consumed by the day-to-day responsibility in his hands? Then volunteer to be your church’s champion/leader in biblical citizenship efforts. Lead your church’s Salt and Light Ministry or become its CDF Liason. (See TheRemnantAlliance.com for more details.)
The launch’s headline speaker, Pastor Jack Hilligoss, overcame his doubts to run for and become the mayor of Lake Wales in central Florida. He humbly opined that many pastors need to repent of compromising with worldly views and comfort – and step out in truth in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. What a blessing to his flock and fellow citizens!
Are you ready to step up and step out before it is too late?
“Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16)
