[Miami, Florida, Sunday, December 11, 2022] Last weekend the Brownstone Institute held a conference in Miami to critique the various responses to the Wuhan flu virus. This new think tank was founded in May 2021 by Jeffrey Tucker, a prominent observer of public policy, who was one of the few who publicly objected to these draconian responses starting right away in March 2020. He quickly attracted a following not only of traditional conservatives and libertarians, but also of displaced liberals who had been mugged by reality The conference attracted around 150 participants for an afternoon and evening of events, plus over 2,000 online.
Mr. Tucker gathered to his think tank and featured at this conference a group of prominent medical critics of these responses, including Dr. Jay Bhattacharya of Stanford, one of the signers of the Great Barrington Declaration. The keynote speaker at this conference in Miami was, of course, the Surgeon General of the Free State of Florida: Dr. Joseph Ladapo. Dr. Anthony Fauci did not participate. Florida is indeed where woke comes to die!
The conference acknowledged that almost every policy adopted in response was a failure, and in many cases made things worse: (1) Lockdowns caused more harm, including financial, educational, healthcare and other setbacks, than the Wuhan flu could have done. For example, cancer screenings were suspended, resulting in an increase in cancer deaths. School closings have resulted in children losing irreplaceable time to learn. (2) Standing six feet apart is nonsense and not based on science. Most of the responses followed the science, but the political science, not the medical science. (3) Mandates are examples of totalitarian tyranny by our incompetent and corrupt technocracy, and unconstitutional to boot. (4) The Wuhan flu virus is not deadly to over 99% of our population, and only threatens the very elderly and those with co-morbidities like obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes and similar maladies. In addition, most people were not treated until they were sick enough to be admitted to a hospital. (5) The so-called vaccine is really just a gene therapy based on mRNA technology, providing very weak protection. It does not prevent infection or transmission of the virus, and is dangerous to many otherwise healthy people. (6) Masks are useless, except to signal our submission to the totalitarian tyranny of our elite technocrats.
Other oddities of such responses included: (1) United States taxpayers, via the National Institute of Health, funded the gain of function research that created the virus in an unsafe overseas laboratory, which practiced lax safety procedures and most likely allowed the virus to escape. (2) The Chinese Communist Party controls both the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where the virus was created, and the World Health Organization, which tried to hide the source of the virus by renaming it Covid. (3) Big Pharma controls the FDA, CDC and NIH, in a case of regulatory capture and outright corruption. (4) The careers of medical professionals were threatened if they did not conform to the totalitarian orthodoxy.
Panelists at the conference included: (1) Justin Hart, an executive at the Brownstone Institute, author of “Gone Viral: How Covid Drove the World Insane” and founder of www.rationalground.com. (2) Michael Senger, a vaccine litigator based in San Francisco and author of “Snake Oil: How Xi Jinping Shut Down the World.” (3) Bobbie Anne Flower Cox, a Bronxville, New York, real estate lawyer who left her practice to sue Governor Hochul for her regulatory excesses. (4) Dr. Paul Alexander, a prominent Canadian epidemiologist who was in constant contact with Dr. Scott Atlas in the White House task force, while Dr. Deborah Birx ignored the data. (5) Dr. Aaron Kheriaty, former director of medical ethics at the University of California at Irvine and author of “The New Abnormal: The Biomedical Security State.” (6) Dr. Ryan Cole, a prominent Idaho pathologist whose medical license was threatened by the State of Washington Medical Commission for his warnings against the so-called vaccine.
David Stockman, former Republican Congressman and President Reagan’s budget director, weighed in that the business lockdowns in response to the Wuhan flu virus caused more than twice as much unemployment and dislocation as the Great Recession of 2008-09. The money printed by the Federal Reserve as part of its response will assure us excessive inflation through 2024. The handouts to compensate for lost jobs has increased incentives to avoid work and instead live off taxpayers and fall into dependency on government. Lockdowns prioritized keeping open national chains and online retailers over independent businesses, further concentrating industries all over the world.
Now that our technocracy has gained experience from this trial run with the Covid lockdown, we should expect another attempted lockdown in time for the next Presidential election in 2024, but next time in response to climate change. Lock ‘n load!
