Doral, Florida - The election season for Miami City Commissioner, District 2, is under way with early voting this week, at Government Center and City Hall in the district, and at precinct stations on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7 from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Christi Tasker continues to surge as the most patriotic, honest and competent candidate in this race. See: https://miamiindependent.com/christi-tasker-fights-tammany-hall-in-miami/. She is waging war against the gangster government of Miami City Hall, where half the office-holders are under indictment or criminal investigation. Rappers may be gangsta’ Strait Outta Compton, but the Miami Crime Family runs the city’s gangster government. They reach out for alliances with kindred spirits not only in the Bahamas, home of FTX and Samuel Bankman-Fried, but also in Qatar, home of Hamas.

Sabina Covo is Second Largest Fundraiser

The incumbent, Sabina Covo, is trailing the field, showing that her victory in the special election earlier this year was skewed by the short time to campaign and the lack of a runoff. Despite not being able to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at her first meeting as a Miami City Commissioner, Covo has raised the second largest war chest among the candidates in this race, $212,000. Her donors include the Mas Brothers and Magic City Casino, as well as the top brass of the Miami Firefighters and the Miami Fraternal Order of Police (which also supports Alex Diaz de la Portilla, candidate in District 1), but money can buy votes only up to a point.

Even left-wing media like Political Cortadito, Billy Corben and The Miami Herald have gone so far as to notice her incompetence and lack of involvement, and have given up on her. When you are a Democrat incumbent and you lose the left-wing media, then you are in trouble.

    Damian Pardo is Largest Fundraiser

Instead The Herald has endorsed the top fundraiser, Damian Pardo, a professional financial advisor and progressive activist, who has raised $252,000. His fund-raising prowess was always acknowledged. Apparently, he contributed some $165,000 to his own campaign. Other donors include Alex Penelas, former Mayor of Miami-Dade County, and Philip Levine, former Mayor of Miami Beach. Nevertheless, even the children of his campaign manager have turned away from him, and instead support Christi Tasker. He does not play well with children.

Pardo founded SAVE PAC, which supports LGBTQ causes and funded Covo in her first campaign earlier this year. Now he realizes that Covo is an ineffective legislator, and he has to step in personally in order to protect an investment in District 2.

    Christi Captures Hearts and Minds

Christi Tasker has raised only $5,000, but apparently she knows how to make her money work harder, because she is surging in this race. She is the only candidate without funding from real estate developers, casino operators, public-sector unions or other special interests. Instead, she captures the hearts and minds of voters. For example, the daughter of Damian Pardo’s campaign manager has composed and performed a campaign song supporting Christi: https://www.tiktok.com/@christi4miami/video/7295850879566040362. None of the other candidates has inspired such devotion.

While other candidates may receive endorsements from the top brass of public-sector unions, Christi connects with the rank-and-file of police officers, firefighters and paramedics.

Christi’s campaign relies on volunteers walking door-to-door in Coconut Grove, Brickell, Biscayne Boulevard and the rest of her district. Christi and her team have knocked on over 3,500 doors and spoken at over 30 buildings. She adds: “Running the entire political campaign on my own dime, with small contributions from neighbors and citizens, is the only way we are guaranteed a clean leader.”

Christi is also present at meetings, pays attention and doesn’t need attorneys or anyone else writing her speeches or telling her what to say or where to step. She knows which microphone to speak into, and she gives citizens a voice and connects them to the media in order to resolve problems.

She has collected endorsements from The Miami Independent, the Republican Liberty Caucus, the Republican National Hispanic Assembly, Citizens First, the Election Integrity Brigade, the Liberty Authority, Bay of Pigs veteran Frank de Varona, and gospel singer Jimmy Levy.

Other candidates in the race, including Eddie Leal and James Torres, are fading quickly. Often candidates in Miami elections are there to draw away votes from leading candidates, and to take away time during candidate forums and outright get compensated for their interference.

If you are eligible to vote in the election for Miami City Commissioner, District 2, go to the polling stations and vote for Christi Tasker, no. 266. She will make you proud!
