There's always some sort of animal madness in Central and South Florida. In recent weeks, we reported on an iguana coup d'etat at an abandoned bank building, not so charming six-foot Nile monitor lizards roaming in neighborhoods, and out-of-nowhere pit bull murderers on the attack.
Last month, Fox 35 TV news (Orlando) added to animal madness, reporting on feral hogs in Edgewater, northeast of Orlando on the east coast.
The feral hogs are causing thousands of dollars in property damage, said a news presenter.
Then the news journalist spoke. She filed her report after a town hall meeting about the hogs gone wild. She said the problem isn't going away soon.
The hogs affect on lawns isn't they only concern. They are tearing up yards deep into the soil and various kinds of landscaping.
The problem has been going on for generations in Edgewater. As development increases, the problem is getting worse.
The news journalist said that feral hogs are in all Florida counties and have caused millions in damage per year.
