Doral, Florida - The Republican Liberty Caucus is a grassroots conservative group that works within the Republican Party. They call themselves the conscience of the Republican Party, as if that were a thing. Nevertheless, the RLC has resurrected its chapter in Miami-Dade County, and this week they held a meeting.

At this meeting, they endorsed three conservative Republicans running in elections this year: (1) Christi Tasker for Miami City Commissioner, District 2, with election day on Tuesday, November 7; (2) Monica Perez seeking re-election as Hialeah City Councilwoman on the same election day; and (3) Mike Redondo for State Representative of District 118 (West Kendall) in a special election on Tuesday, December 5.

    Christi Tasker

Christi is the most patriotic, honest and competent candidate in her race. See: https://miamiindependent.com/christi-tasker-fights-tammany-hall-in-miami/. The Miami City Commission has been rocked recently by the indictment on corruption charges of the District 1 Commissioner, who is also State Committeeman for the Republican Executive Committee of Miami-Dade County. See: https://miamiindependent.com/somethings-rotten-at-tammany-hall-in-miami/. This REC has not endorsed Christi, but their non-endorsement has not hindered her campaign.

    Monica Perez

Monica grew up in Hialeah and today lives there with her husband and two children. She is also a veteran schoolteacher with intimate knowledge of her community. She wants to keep Hialeah a great place to work, own a business, and raise a family.

She seeks re-election as Hialeah City Councilwoman. Her issues include: (1) Expanding after-school activities. (2) Neighborhood safety through funding the police. (3) Help for the special-needs community of children and adults. (4) Providing a voice for residents to participate in the positive growth of Hialeah, while maintaining Hialeah’s historic character and not raising taxes. (5) Community planning to update infrastructure. And (6) Updating technology in order to increase the transparency of government.

    Mike Redondo

Mike is a successful local litigator who pledges to preserve Florida's prosperous business climate, supports parental rights in education, and backs law enforcement agencies.

His issues include: (1) Upholding high standards in education. (2) Promoting public safety. (3) Preserving economic prosperity. (4) Protecting parental rights in education. And (5) Modernizing the public school curriculum and professional development. Mike has been endorsed by Speaker-designate Danny Perez, and received donations from the Republican House Campaign Committee.

    Widespread Support

In addition to the Republican Liberty Caucus, these candidates are endorsed by other grassroots conservative groups in Miami-Dade County. They include the Election Integrity Brigade, the Liberty Authority and the National Republican Hispanic Assembly.

The RLC is looking to endorse conservative Republican candidates for county-wide positions next year, such as County Mayor, State’s Attorney, Sheriff and Supervisor of Elections. The group acknowledged that the major political battles in Florida usually occur in the Republican primaries, so they resolved: (1) to register more Republicans, so that conservatives can vote in the primaries; and (2) to support a slate of conservative candidates next year under the auspices of the Liberty Authority.
